Chaya Leia Sylvia, RN, BSN
Maya Abdominal Massage Therapist
Chaya, in Hebrew, means “life” and in Sanskrit means “shadow” or “support”. Leia, a Bible character, represents humility, motherhood and nurturing.
Chaya Leia is a practicing Registered Nurse in the western medical world. This gives her great insight to the inner mysteries of the body. “I deeply believe that the natural state of the body is harmonious, but that traumatic events, physical and emotional, as well as patterned ways of holding our bodies and emotions can disrupt that natural harmony.”
In her quest for personal health, she discovered the Arvigo techniques of Maya Abdominal MassageTM. It restores the harmony of which she speaks, by realigning the abdominal organs. This optimizes flow of blood and lymph, thus restoring health, vitality and joy. “Allowing oneself to receive healing touch in, perhaps the most sensitive area of the body, opens us to great healing.”
She is a Reiki II practitioner, a long time dancer and yoga practitioner. She has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. Chaya has trained in a variety of different types of dance and movement over the years, including authentic movement, contact improvisation and belly dance. She currently works with a professional tribal belly dance company in Boston called Vadalna Tribal Dance Company. “In dance, I work with the concept that all movement come directly from our cores.”
