Metaphysical Properties of Minerals and Crystals

When you start working with crystals and minerals in a metaphysical way, the best thing to do is see what information the stone gives you, rather than relying on what books, websites and other resources for the stone's properties. However, it is nice to have a reference, which is why we provide the information below. abalone shell

Used to attract love and reflect negative energy. Helpful in meditation and chakra balancing.

agate

Agate's most noticeable properties overall are balancing yin/yang energy, courage, protection, healing, and calming. Agate enhances creativity and strengthens the intellect, making it a beneficial stone for both students and artists. It is also known as a good luck stone. As a stone of harmony, one of the things agate does is balance yin/yang energy. Agate increases energy. However, because it is a grounding stone, it does not increase energy at all times, but rather enables bursts of energy as needed. A very protective stone.

agate - blue lace (blue lace agate)

Awaken and energize the throat chakra, helping one to communicate clearly & concisely one's inner knowing. It is also said to enhance intuition, promote peace of mind, soothe anger, ease tension and help one connect with the Goddess energy.

agate - crazy lace (crazy lace agate)

A balancing and protecting stone. It brings laughter and absorbs emotional pain. Crazy Lace Agate is used to help with decision making by balancing the physical, emotional, and mental so that it is easy to make decisions. It also helps one stay focused. It is generally a protective stone, but is particularly emotionally protective. It is also said to ward off the "evil eye." Physically, crazy lace agate is excellent for increasing stamina and energy, and is good for skin disorders such as acne, eczema, etc., is beneficial for the endocrine system and the heart.

agate - fire (fire agate)

The spiritual flame of absolute perfection; Provides balance, protection and energy for introspection and inspiration. Eliminates fears and reflects all threat of harm back to the source so that the source may personally understand the act. Helps purge desires which will not further one's pursuit of the enlightened state.

amazonite

amber

aquamarine

Aquamarine is the best stone for the fifth chakra, the energy center at the throat, and that it enhances one's communication skills. It is said to be a cooling and calming stone, good for soothing sunburns, fevers and tempers., and to enhance intellectual abilities.

Aragonite

Assists in maintaining serenity in trying circumstances. Heals past wounds & release of long held drama and ego. Helps to center for meditation and can provide insight.

azurite

Azurite is called the "stone of heaven." It aids in developing psychic awareness, psychic skills and abilities, enhancing intuition. Excellent for meditation. Brings just the right amount of energy to any situation. Professed to be helpful for healing in general, cancer prevention, liver issues arthritis, joint problems, depression, sinuses, skin problems. Azurite is most closely related to the third eye chakra. It will also work to align all of the chakras.

Black Star is useful when meditating to unlock the secrets that you hold deep within you and to reveal the mysteries of magic to your conscious mind. It is sometimes called the "Crying" gemstone, because it is believed by crystal healers to heal by bringing forth cleansing tears.

blizzard stone

Particularly helpful to those who are working on spiritual transformation, the electric charge helps align chakras and the meridian system. Works gently and more gradually than other stones.

bloodstone

A stone of courage. It is said to bring strength of mind, firmness of purpose & confidence in difficult situations. It can be used to assist one in taking the actions dictated by the heart's desire. It is said to purify the blood and increase life force energies.

blue spinel

Spinel is said to be able to clarify thoughts and creative ideas, as well as attracting the help that is required for any given situation. It also will enhance discrimination, especially about friends and what situations we become involved in, also quite good for communication about spiritual matters.

brochantite

In addition to sharing the qualities of copper, this rare crystal strengthen and aligns the chakra, meridian and energetic bodies, stimulating the heart and root chakras and cleansing energy centers and the physical body. Can be used to protect against environmental contaminents.

bronzite

A "Stone of Focused Action" and a "Stone of Courtesy". It is helpful for helping with certainty and with taking control of our actions. It can also help one to think ahead about things, enhancing the ability to take control of our own lives. In this, because bronzite helps dispel uncertainty, it can help us also take necessary actions for our own benefit, while still being loving and polite and principled in our behavior. Bronzite is a good grounding stone also. It is excellent for these same reasons to promote change in a harmonious way. Physically, Bronzite is used in crystal healing for ailments related to the solar plexus chakra, assimilation of iron, lessening muscular tension, dispelling restlessness caused by emotional and psycho-physical ailments.

This rare new find was discovered in 1997 in central South Africa, in the manganese fields of the Kalahari Desert, in the Botswana region. It is most closely related to the incredible mineral Sugilite or Manganese-Sugilite, which I reference in here and about which I also wrote in Gemstone Journeys. Incredibly, this mineral is just now making itself known, although it has probably been right in front of our eyes for eons. I believe that is because these minerals will appear in our awareness only when the time is right and it is needed. If you understand how your brain works, you can only process, or hold in your consciousness, seven (plus or minus one) chunks of information at a time, so in this case, we were not needing to notice this incredible mineral until now. Poldervaarite is coming to us at this time to bring a peace and calm to our planet.The mineral content of the stone is created by a complex calcium structure, and calcium is always here to bring peace and healing to those who use and notice it.
